Michael Waters Back to the judges
Michael Waters is an Assistant Professor in Real Estate at Heriot-Watt University’s Dubai Campus. He holds the position of Director of Studies having launched the University’s taught MSc programmes in Real Estate in Dubai in 2009.
Having previously worked at a variety of top UK universities specialising in real estate education as well as in commercial practice, Michael returned to researching and teaching real estate at Heriot-Watt University. He teaches on a range of relevant postgraduate courses at the university including real estate valuation, property development, urban land economies and spatial planning. Other academic interests include financial analysis, global housing markets and urban redevelopment.
Michael is a qualified member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). He sits as an active APC assessor/trainer for the MENA region and has helped many local APC candidates successfully pass their entry to MRICS status.
He is a leading authority on Dubai's real estate market, a pioneer for the development of international best practices in the local market. Michael has been involved in numerous research projects in collaboration with industry partners, including Estate Master, JLL and the World Economic Forum. He has academic publications on a wide range of topics including; urban brownfield regeneration, housing policy; and sustainable urban development. Michael is often quoted in press and media, on subjects relating to investment, development and property valuation.
